Snapshot

With no state office elections this year, the focus in Louisiana is on the Senate race where Democrat incumbent Mary Landrieu has been targeted by the national Republican Party. Landrieu, completing her first term, has looked good in recent state polls, moving to a centrist posistion in her voting and backing President Bush's programs about two thirds of the time. Bush carried Louisiana in 2000.
