Darryl Stanton (DFL)

In 2000, Darryl Stanton lost a race for the DFL's endorsement in the 3rd district. He pushed for a $100 limit on political contributions by individuals, and the news media's support in upholding it. If candidates don't abide by the rules, he said, the media shouldn't give them free exposure in pre-election stories.

Stanton is running a low profile campaign against a high profile candidate in 2002. He did not return calls for comment on what he'd like to do if he was elected.

From the Campaign Trail

Profile: The 7th District
Oct. 14 - The 7th Congressional District is bigger than some states, running from the Canadian border nearly to Iowa along the western side of Minnesota. That size could be an obstacle, but the two candidates running there have gotten creative. DFL congressman Collin Peterson and Republican state Sen. Dan Stevens are both pilots and cover the district from a couple of thousand feet up. (More)
