Peterson hints he will support Obama

St. Paul, Minn. — The last uncommitted Minnesota superdelegate is hinting he will support Barack Obama for president.

U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson, D-Minn., said he wants to pass the farm bill first, before he decides which candidate he'll support in the presidential race.

Congress is expected to approve the five-year package this week, and President George Bush has indicated that he'll veto the bill.

Peterson told Minnesota Public Radio that he'll listen to his constituents in the 7th Congressional District.

"Senator Obama won my district by a pretty good margin. So that'll be heavily weighted in my decision," Peterson said.

Ten of Minnesota's 14 superdelegates are backing Obama, while three support Clinton.

Superdelegates have been moving to Obama's side. Since winning the North Carolina primary and narrowly loosing the Indiana primary, 26 superdelegates have announced their support for Obama.
