Daniel Gabriel has worked in many places around the world. His year spent running a Welsh pub is the inspiration for his new book, "Tales from the Tinker's Dam." (MPR photo/Euan Kerr)
St. Paul writer tells tales of running a Welsh pub

St. Paul, Minn. — Ask St. Paul writer Daniel Gabriel where he got the inspiration for his collection of stories about a pub in Wales, and he'll tell you he lived the life.
His book, "Tales from the Tinker's Dam," is fiction, but it's based on experiences he and his wife had a couple of decades ago.
Gabriel told Minnesota Public Radio's Euan Kerr he became a pub manager through a strange set of coincidences -- and the radio.
