Michael Montgomery covered the Balkans for the London Daily Telegraph. A graduate of Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, he was a Fullbright Scholar in Yugoslavia before the war. He is fluent in Serbo-Croat and considered to be one of the best-informed western journalists covering the Balkans.

Stephen Smith is senior reporter/producer for national projects at Minnesota Public Radio in St. Paul. He reported on the siege of Sarajevo for National Public Radio in 1994, and is the winner of numerous national awards for his radio documentaries. His reports air on National Public Radio and Public Radio International programs. Smith holds a Bachelor's degree in English from Macalester College in St. Paul. He was a 1991-92 William Benton Fellow at the University of Chicago where he earned a Master's degree in the Humanities. He lives in St. Paul with his wife and son.

Jeanne C. Finley is a filmmaker who works in documentary and experimental forms. Her videotapes have been exhibited in festivals and museums around the world and broadcast on PBS and on television throughout Europe, Canada, and Japan. She has been the recipient of grants including a Guggenheim Fellowship, National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships and the Phelan Award in Video. In 1990 Finley received a Fullbright Fellowship to Yugoslavia where she directed programs for Radio/TV Belgrade. She lives in San Francisco with her husband, Michael Montgomery, and their daughter.
