Hour One: Railroad Expansion
Hour Two: Collapse of Farm Prices

HOUR ONE: Railroad Expansion
Hour One in RealAudio 14.4

TOPIC OF DISCUSSION
The Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern Railroad is proposing a significant railroad line to extend from eastern Wyoming to Winona, Minnesota, crossing South Dakota and southern Minnesota. The company will use the rail line to transport coal - as many as 40 trains a day. Many citizens oppose the plan; they're worried more trains will snarl traffic, reduce property values, disrupt farm operations, and generally hurt quality of life.

HOUR TWO: Collapse of Farm Prices
Hour Two in RealAudio 14.4

TOPIC OF DISCUSSION
The prices farmers receive for most of their major products have decreased substantially. The collapse could mean a dismal winter for many as they struggle to find a way to stay in farming. Our second hour will look at why this price collapse has occurred with an exploration of the domestic and international factors affecting farm prices.
