Tripp Tape 1-1
Tripp Tape 1-2
Tripp: I realized, 95 percent of the, excuse me, miscommunication, the problem is you are not hearing it from him. He has not - I promise you this. He has not been painfully honest with you because he doesn't want to hurt you.
Tripp Tape 2-1
Tripp: Yeah, but this isn't - are you - are you telling me that you think that Erskine doesn't place people every day of the week? I mean, come on. That's how networking works.
Tripp Tape 3-1
Lewinsky: I was just- I was so angry, and just- I was disgusted, like nauseous.
Tripp: About?
Lewinsky: About what's happened. Like the fact that I'm not going back there, just nauseous about it.
Tripp: I know. I keep going back and forth with the same thing.
Tripp Tape 5-1
Lewinsky: You know, the creep is really religious.
Tripp: Uh-huh.
Lewinsky: He has religious tapes and stuff in his office.
Tripp: Oh, yeah. He is - I think he is religious.
Lewinsky: I think he's turned to religion even more this second.
Tripp: You do?
Lewinsky: Yeah. You know what I started to think? You know what I realized? And that I would never say it to him because I don't think he'd ever admit it. I think he - I think he made some kind of a - in his head, like a pact with God.
Tripp Tape 6-1
Tripp Tape 6-2
Tripp: Hey, look, Monica, we already know that you're gonna lie under oath. We also know that I want out of this big time. I mean, how else is this going to go? If I have to testify - if I am forced to answer questions and answer truthfully, it's going to be the opposite of what you say, so therefore it's a conflict right there.
Tripp Tape 7-1
Tripp: I think we figured out why he didn't bring you back.
Lewinsky: I understand that. But there can be lots of reasons for everything, you know.
Tripp: Mm-hmm.
Lewinsky: Because the truth is is that for as many reasons as he had for not bringing me back, there were just as many reasons to bring me back, you know.
Tripp: Well, I don't know. I mean, we could argue about that forever.
Lewinsky: Right.
Tripp: I tend to think that it was pretty overwhelming, that he - it would have been politically suicidal to take that chance.
Tripp Tape 8-1
Tripp: But, I mean, who knows? We don't know if he has five in the West Wing, two in the East Wing, and one in each city. We don't know anything. All we do know is he had something with you for all this time and he cares enough about you to - to justify in his mind what he's doing and help you out. But he's too scared to bring you back into the White House. That's the bottom line.
Tripp Tape 9-1
Tripp Tape 9-2
Lewinsky: Throw it all away - no. I mean-uh-look, it's like he's not going through one ounce of pain. I guarantee you he has not gone through one ounce of pain having to do with me in the past six, seven months. He just- threw it all away, you know?
Tripp Tape 11-1
Tripp Tape 11-2
Lewinsky: You are being paranoid. Because I'm never going to come forward with this. So as far as I know-
Tripp: I know that. That's not what I mean. I don't mean that. I'm not saying you would ever come forward with this. I'm just saying-
Lewinsky: And if someone else did, I would deny, deny, deny.
Tripp Tape 13-1
Tripp: No, no. What he's saying is his compulsion for female intimacy is the void, that's the void. And whatever motivates him to behave the way he does, and then obviously he has to pull back and say, "I can't do this," is because there's a void.
Tripp Tape 15-1
Tripp Tape 15-2
Tripp: Oh. Monica, Monica, Monica. I know you can't see it now, but I promise you a year from now, when you look back on this, you will have a much, much healthier perspective, and you will be so glad you got the [expletive] outta here.
Tripp Tape 16-1
Tripp Tape 16-2
Lewinsky: Yeah, you know. I just - I mean, I think he - I think he feels that having me get a job in New York is the right thing to do, and it is, and he owes me that.
Tripp Tape 17-1
Ms. Goldberg: Oh, hi, Linda. It's Lucy, as your Called ID has already told you. Um, I'm just checking in with you. I'm going to be running most of tomorrow, and then we've got the Jewish holidays on Friday, and then I'm leaving on Sunday. So try to touch base. Bye.
Tripp Tape 18-1
Tripp Tape 18-2
Tripp Tape 18-3
Lewinsky: I need to change jobs. I think that is- that is really getting to me.
Tripp: Well, you have - you have a crappy personal situation and you have a crappy professional situation. If even one of them started to improve, I think you would improve.
Tripp Tape 19-1
Tripp: You know what she said on tape last night to me?
Goldberg: What?
Tripp: "I think he's on drugs."
Goldberg: Wow. On tape - you got it on tape?
Tripp: Yep. Goldberg. Good for you.
Tripp Tape 22-1
Tripp Tape 22-2
Tripp: I have a real problem - I have to tell you. Put my job aside for now. I have a real problem that you don't have any qualms at all about doing this for him. I mean, to me, it's like where-
Lewinsky: I have qualms.
Tripp: Hmpf.
Lewinsky: I have qualms, but I- I made a decision that I have to deal with them.
Tripp Tape 23-1
Tripp Tape 23-2
Tripp: You know what, Monica? It's going to work out, because I have - I have ture faith that you're going to go up to New York, you're going to get a wonderful job, this is all going to go away, and he's gonna to - the stupid attorneys in Texas are gonna to - even if they get me, I'll either plead the Fifth or they'll be stupid enough and ask really dumb questions that Kirby said will be a cake walk.
Tripp Tape 26-1
Lewinsky: Yeah, I was. I mean, I pretty much am begging to see him. I told him last week I wanted to see him over the weekend. I said in the - you know, in two fashions of what I sent him yesterday, plain and clear in the card, you know, and on the perscription. It was very clear I wanted to see him.
Tripp Tape 27-1
Tripp: So she - let me understand this. She just wanted to chat?
Lewinsky: Let me tell you something. She - she wanted to find out what I knew. That's what she wanted to find out.

Tripp Tape 30-7
Tripp: But Vernon Jordan is behind you. He's a very powerful man.
Lewinsky: He- no, I don't think he's behind me. I think if he was behind me (inaudible). I think he's going to distance himself from me. I don't know why.
Tripp: He- he knows the truth, and you know it. And he had the all-powerful way of fixing it.
