St. Paul Mayoral Race



Jay Benanav
Benanav was elected to the St. Paul City Council in 1997, representing the city's 4th Ward, which includes several northwestern neighborhoods. Benanav is an attorney and has been president of the Workers Compensation Reinsurance Association since 1987. He previously served as deputy commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry. He is a graduate of the State University of New York and of St. John's University School of Law in New York. Benanav is a founder of his synagogue, Shir Tikva Congregation. He lives in the Merriam Park neighborhood with his wife and three children.
