Honk the Moose was runner-up for the 1936 Newbery Medal for children's literature. Artist Kurt Weise won a Lewis Carroll Shelf Award in 1970 for the illustrations. It's been picked a winter feature by Book Sense, an affiliation of independent booksellers.
