Minneapolis, Minn. — Minneapolis police have arrested four people in connection with the shooting of a 20-month old girl last week. Police say they'll charge Antonio Lamar Gail, 20, and Marchello Rembert, also 20, with first degree assault. A third man, Amecio Navro Enge, 19, was arrested for withholding information from police. Police say they're reviewing charges on a fourth suspect and didn't release his name.

Police Chief Robert Olson credits cooperation from residents in the north Minneapolis neighborhood where the shooting occurred.

"What I'm hoping is happening is we've reached some kind of tipping point here," Olson said, "where the community really has awakened and is figuring out the best way to rid their neighborhoods of this stuff is that they've got to step up to the plate, and work with police to identify these suspects and take them out."

Police say the suspects approached the house on foot and fired into it. Bullet fragments hit 20-month-old Deasha Hazley in the head and stomach. Police say she remains in critical condition at North Memorial Hospital.

The girl was shot in the Jordan neighborhood, which has been plagued this summer by gang activity and shootings. In response, Gov. Tim Pawlenty has authorized the use of a 12-unit State Patrol troopers in the neighborhood.

The governor also said he would make the State Patrol helicopter available for air patrols of the area.
