Bloomington, Minn. — Former first lady and New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton signed copies of her memoir Living History at the Mall of America on Tuesday.
About 600 people lined up for the book signing. Many were carrying two or three copies of the book. Some people waited in line all night to get a chance to meet Clinton.
The mall began issuing wristbands at 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, however people began lining up outside the building at midnight. Lyda Parker, from Birchwood Village waited at the Mall since 5 a.m. Parker says she'd like to see Clinton elected president in 2008. She says Clinton is well qualified for the job.
"First of all, her experience, her intelligence... her interest in children and health care," says Parker. "Let's face it, New York elected her and in New York, they select good people, I think."
Diane Cummins and a friend drove from Brainerd and arrived at 3 a.m. They brought blankets and chairs and slept outside the mall. Cummins says it was all worth it to get the chance to meet Clinton.
"I think she's a great woman role model. She's really done a lot for the women's movement. And I just think she's going to do wonders," she says. "It's great to be here!"
Living History is number six on the Publisher's Weekly list of top selling non-fiction books.
