The score for "The People's Room" (MPR photo/Michael Barone) |
St. Paul, Minn. — Twin Cities composer Carol Barnett was commissioned to write the piece which she calls, "The People's Room."
Barnett wrote the work for percussion, winds, strings and chorus singing in twelve different languages. She told Minnesota Public Radio's Karl Gehrke that the work was inspired by a German saying painted on a Capitol wall. To listen to the interview, choose the audio link in the right column.
