Jesse Saavedra got into AIDS work by accident. A recovering drug addict, he volunteered at Catholic Social Services, serving coffee and working as a bouncer. He had no interest in AIDS but the agency recruited him for an outreach position since he spoke Spanish and was respected in the Latino community. |
