First day of 2003 legislative session A Midday broadcast from the Capitol rotunda on the opening day of the legislative session, including interviews with legislative leaders, key lawmakers, and dignitaries. Mending a state budget that's an estimated $4.56 billion out of whack will be the monumental chore that keeps new Gov. Tim Pawlenty and the Legislature busy from January to May - and possibly beyond. North and South Korea While Washington is being criticized for taking a softer stance toward North Korea than Iraq, the situation remains volatile in North and South Korea. The undersecretary for arms control and international security, John Bolton, says different circumstances require different approaches. And he says that even though the U.S. has no intentions of invading North Korea, the U.S. views the North's nuclear ambitions as "very serious." Still, some military strategists say an air strike against North Korea's nuclear complex carries many risks -- especially for the people who live in the South Korean capitol.
