Men's Olympic curling team
Coach Bud
Two-time world curling champion Bud Somerville coaches the U.S. Men's Olympic team at the St. Paul Curling Club. Before leaving for Salt Lake the team spent several hours every day practicing. Bud holds the broom where he wants the curler to aim. As a curling stone slows at the end of a throw it will begin to curl, actually moving sideways as well as forward. A few seconds after this picture was taken the stone being thrown hit the red stone fourth from the left - just as Bud had requested.
